Ai Weiwei removed from Shanghai exhibition

Ai-WeiweiThe works of Ai Weiwei have been removed from the exxhibition at the Power Station of Art in Shanghai “15 Years Chinese Contemporary Art Award” about the history of Chinese contemporary art because of pressure from local government.

Ai Weiwei usually has conflicts with Chinese officials, because of his political views as an outspoken critic on several issues such as censorship.

In 2008 the artist won the award for lifetime contribution and he was called to take part to the exhibition but a few days before the April 26 opening, he was told that he could not.
