$1 million Ai Weiwei vase destroyed in Miami as artist protests – Video

On Sunday afternoon a local artist destroyed a valuable vase by the Chinese dissident Ai Weiwei exhibited at Pérez Art Museum Miami, appearently as an act of protest. The vase was worth $1 million, part of the artist’s exhibition According to what?  at the museum. 

As we can see through this video, the man walked into the waterfront museum and picked up one of the vases of the installation while a guard asked the man to put it down, but instead he threw it to the ground, smashing it. The man, Maximo Caminero, 51, has been arrested by the police and charged with criminal mischief and later released after posting bail.  Maximo Caminero told the Miami New Times that he had broken the vase to protest against the museum’s exclusion of local artists in its exhibits.
