Louvre Abu Dhabi set to open on 2 December 2015

On 19 November, Aurélie Filippetti, the French minister of culture, made the official announcement the Louvre Abu Dhabi will be opening on UAE’s National Day, 2 December 2015. The new great museum was conceived through an agreement between the United Arab Emirates and France.

Jean-Luc Martinez, director of the Louvre in Paris, said that 300 masterpieces have now been selected for loan to the Louvre Abu Dhabi. These works will be added to the 130 permanent artworks in the Louvre Abu Dhabi collection, which were on display this year at Manarat Al Saadiyat in the exhibition titled “Birth of a Museum”.
