Francesco Vezzoli has dismantled a church in southern Italy to rebuild it at the MoMA – and he has been stopped by the police

The denunciation of attempted Illicit exportation of cultural goods is promptly arrived to the artist. Francesco Vezzoli wrapped up stone by stone of a church in the small village of  Montegiordano in Calabria, built at the end of the 19th century and later desecrated, in order to transport it to the USA for his exhibition at MoMA PS1. But the artist didn’t consider the Superintendent of Cosenza, who sent the police to seize the eleven containers ready for boarding.
